What changes when names differ
Instagram's help page lists the effects, including: - The Threads badge no longer shows on the Instagram profile. - Sharing Instagram or Facebook posts to Threads stops working. - A Meta Verified badge does not carry over to Threads.
Keep the names matched
- Add Instagram and Threads to the same Meta account in Accounts Center.
- Change the Instagram handle to the OG name.
- Change the Threads username to match, or sync usernames in Accounts Center if the option shows.
- If the name is taken on Threads, Instagram's help page explains your options.
Before you switch
