OG describes how people value a handle
People call a handle OG when it is short, spelled cleanly, a real word or a name, or has been around since early days. No one at Instagram certifies it.
OG is not an Instagram feature
- No badge or label appears on the profile.
- No public list of OG handles exists.
- No process treats an OG handle differently from any other.
Four traits recur
Short length, clean spelling, clear meaning and early age. How they combine is set out in what makes a handle OG.
The same rules apply to every handle
OG or not, a handle is unique and uses letters, numbers, periods and underscores up to 30 characters. A claim for one follows the same official routes as any other.
The label is also a sales hook
Sellers use the word OG to justify a price. Read the common myths before you answer an offer.
